Our Journey

A Timeline of Growth and Impact

2012
The Beginning

Children’s Heaven was founded by a group of passionate young social activists in Dhaka, Bangladesh. What started as a small initiative to help street children quickly gained momentum, driven by the urgent need to address the basic rights of deprived children.

2013
First Smile Center Opens

Recognizing the need for a safe space where children could receive education, healthcare, and emotional support, we opened our first Smile Center in Dhaka. This marked the beginning of a network of centers that would become a cornerstone of our work.

2015
Expanding Reach

By 2015, Children’s Heaven had expanded its operations to Jessore and Mymensingh, bringing our programs to more children and communities in need. This year also saw the introduction of our skills development program, aimed at equipping older children with vocational skills.

2017
Health & Hygienic Support Program Launched

In response to the growing health challenges faced by children in underserved communities, we launched our Health & Hygienic Support program. This program provided regular health check-ups, vaccinations, and hygiene education to thousands of children.

2019
Empowerment Projects and Water for All Initiative

Our Empowerment Projects began, focusing on vocational training, leadership development, and community empowerment. We also launched the Water for All initiative, ensuring access to clean drinking water in the communities we serve.

2022
10 Years of Spreading Happiness

Children’s Heaven celebrated a decade of impact, having reached over 12,000 children across Bangladesh. We continue to expand our programs, with new Smile Centers opening in Tangail and additional community outreach initiatives.

Beyond: The Future

As we look to the future, Children’s Heaven remains committed to our mission of transforming lives. Our focus will be on scaling our impact, enhancing the quality of our programs, and reaching more children in need across the country.

Dr. Musharraf Hussain, Trustee & Chairman

Dr. Musharraf Hussain is a distinguished academic and social leader with a deep commitment to child welfare and community development. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Children’s Heaven, he brings decades of experience in education and public service. Dr. Hussain’s visionary leadership has been instrumental in guiding the organization’s strategic direction and expanding its impact across Bangladesh. His dedication to creating opportunities for underprivileged children is reflected in his tireless work to ensure that Children’s Heaven continues to grow and thrive.

Sharmin Sultana, Trustee & Vice Chairman

Sharmin Sultana is a passionate advocate for social justice and gender equality. As Vice Chairman of Children’s Heaven, she plays a critical role in overseeing the organization’s programs and initiatives. With a background in social work and community engagement, Sharmin brings a wealth of experience to her role, helping to shape the organization’s approach to empowering children and communities. Her leadership is characterized by a deep empathy for those in need and a commitment to creating sustainable, positive change.

S M Al Mahmud, Founder & Secretary General

S M Al Mahmud is the visionary founder of Children’s Heaven and has been the driving force behind the organization since its inception in 2012. As Secretary General, he is responsible for the overall management and strategic planning of the organization. S M Al Mahmud’s unwavering dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged children has been the cornerstone of Children’s Heaven’s success. His leadership is rooted in a profound belief in the power of education and community support to transform lives and break the cycle of poverty.

Nurun Ashrafi Rikta, Trustee & Joint Secretary

Nurun Ashrafi Rikta is a dynamic leader with a strong background in non-profit management and community outreach. As Joint Secretary of Children’s Heaven, she is responsible for coordinating the organization’s various programs and ensuring their effective implementation. Rikta’s ability to connect with communities and her deep understanding of the challenges faced by underprivileged children make her an invaluable asset to the organization. Her work is driven by a passion for creating opportunities for those who need them most.

Md. Shahajahan Ali, Trustee & Treasurer

Md. Shahajahan Ali is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in non-profit financial management. As Treasurer of Children’s Heaven, he oversees the organization’s financial health, ensuring that all resources are used effectively and transparently. His expertise in financial planning and management is crucial in maintaining the organization’s sustainability and enabling it to expand its reach. Mahmud Imran, Trustee & IT Secretary

Mahmud Imran is a technology expert with a passion for using IT solutions to drive social change. As IT Secretary of Children’s Heaven, he is responsible for managing the organization’s digital infrastructure and ensuring that technology is leveraged to enhance its programs and operations. Md Imran Shorif, Trustee & Communication Secretary
